Chile: National team win first ever Copa crown, beating Argentina 4-1

Chile's national football team embarked on a victory parade in Santiago on Saturday, after winning the Copa America for the first time in the team's history. Tens of thousands of fans flooded the streets outside Chile's government house to welcome the team, who stunned their Argentinean rivals with a 4-1 win.

Crowds chanted "chi, chi, chi, le, le, le, Viva Chile", waving flags and celebrating, as the national team were greeted by Chilean president Michelle Bachelet, who has attended each of the team's championship matches this year. The game ended goaless before running into extra time, with the match running up to 120 minutes when forward Alexis Sanchez scored the winning penalty, ending the team's 99 year-long wait for the Copa America title.

Taking place at the city's Estadio Nacional, tickets for the long-awaited game fetched up to $25,000 (22,500 euros).
