Bahrain: Molotov Cocktails rain upon security forces
Protesters launched Molotov cocktails on Bahrain security forces in Sitra, Friday night. The violence followed demonstrations against the four-year jail sentence given to prominent opposition leader Sheikh Ali Salman.
Sitra is a predominately Shia area of the country that has been a constant site of protest since 2011, when an attempt to overthrow the al-Khalifa dynasty was neutralised by Saudi and UAE forces.
The Obama administration recently lifted the weapons ban on Bahrain, which was put in place after the country's violent crackdown on protesters. While weapons will be traded for Bahrain's military and national guard, the Interior Ministry is still prohibited from purchasing weaponry.
