Hungary: 'We are forced to build this barrier' - PM Orban on Serbian border fence

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban held a press conference alongside Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic in Budapest, Wednesday, following a summit with both countries on the issue of undocumented migrants. Discussing the plan to build a fence along the Hungarian-Serbian border, Orban said "we know this is not a positive measure but we are forced to build this barrier".

Giving reasons for the decision, Orban said that it was due to migrants coming across Hungary's southern border and also migrants being sent back by Western Europe to Hungary, which has increased pressure on the country. Orban did not state when construction of the border fence will begin, but did confirm that it will be built.

Serbia and Hungary held a joint session on Wednesday to discuss migration as well as economy, transport and education. The countries signed four agreement on education, transport, support to Serbia's path to the European Union and also on foreign affairs.
