France: Marine Le Pen to run for FN in December's regional elections
Marine Le Pen announced that she will run for the Front National (FN) in December's regional elections in Nord-Pas-de-Calais during a presser in Arras, Tuesday.
Saying that her decision was "courageous," the FN leader told press and supporters that if she were to run, the French must “rise up and give the power to the patriots." Some 80 anti-FN protesters demonstrated outside the building where the far-right politician made the announcement.
Her bid for December's regional elections will be a precursor to test the FN leader’s popularity ahead of France’s 2017 presidential vote.
