France: Interior Minister Cazeneuve speaks to press after factory attack
The Minister of the Interior for France Bernard Cazeneuve spoke to the press after police found a decapitated body French factory in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier in eastern France, Friday. The assailant is purported to have been waving an 'Islamic' flag as he entered the compound in a car, detonating several gas canisters, injuring at least two people. Police have identified and arrested a 35-year-old suspect named Yassin Salhi.
Police evacuated the factory compound, owned by a French subsidiary of the US-headquartered Air Products which reportedly contains potentially dangerous gas and chemical products.
French President Francois Hollande said that the incident was without doubt a "terrorist attack" in a statement made from Brussels where he was attending a European Council summit. He has also made a statement from the Elysee Palace on his immediate return, announcing that France's national security will remain at the highest alert level. French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, on a diplomatic visit to Bogota, will also return to France on Friday.
