Belgium: Juncker rants about 'inconvenient' EU working methods
President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker called the EU's method of working 'hugely inconvenient', as it prevents him from sleeping, speaking at a 3am joint press conference with EU President Donald Tusk in Brussels, Friday morning.
Commenting on his dissatisfaction with the EU's working hours, Juncker said, " I'm still awake but tired, and when you're tired, you don't necessarily always make the best decisions." Later, during the conference, amid rumours that he has been having conflicts with Tusk over the EU's migrant plan, a journalist asked if he had used the phrase 'Je m'en fous', a colloquial French for 'I don't care', when referring to the council. Juncker replied "Don't believe those who are tweeting."
After a five hour meeting it was announced that 40,000 asylum seekers staying in Greece and Italy will be relocated to other EU member states over the next two years, while a a further 20,000 people, who have not yet arrived to the EU will be 'resettled'.
