Belgium: UK to step up training of Ukrainian soldiers - NATO's Stoltenberg
Britain will "step up" its "bilateral support and training" of Ukrainian soldiers, announced NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a press conference on the second day of the NATO - Ukraine Commission meeting of defence ministers in Brussels, Thursday.
Speaking to a room full of journalists, Stoltenberg also said that NATO member countries as a whole have agreed to "step up practical support for Ukraine." Five trust funds are already up and running and projects on "secure communications and regional airspace security" have recently been launched, he said.
Taking place in Brussels on June 24 and 25, the defence ministers meeting is set to discuss top security topics such as national defence budgets and how to speed up the decision-making process within NATO. The Afghan and Ukrainian defence ministers are also attending the meeting as the organisation discusses support for both countries.
