Protesters stormed a branch of upmarket estate agents Foxtons in Hackney, north London, Monday, as part of a demonstration against gentrification in the area, and proposed fines against homeless people sleeping in public areas.
Hackney council caused uproar among anti-gentrification activists after it was proposed that homeless people should be fined £1000.00 (€1,395, $1,582) for sleeping on the streets, however they backed down after huge public opposition.
Nonetheless activists still gathered in central Hackney and instead targeted high end estate agents Foxtons, who they consider a symbol of rising rent in London. After police arrived, protesters eventually left the building.
