
Germany: Russia must adhere to Minsk agreements before sanctions are eased - Merkel
The conflict in Ukraine can only be solved "politically," with the Minsk agreements establishing a "clear path" to peace, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said in Berlin on Thursday.
Merkel went on to discuss Russia and the extension of sanctions on the country ratified by the European Council in March. "Russia has to show that they meet the obligations" of the Minsk agreements before sanctions are eased, The German leader reaffirmed.
