#BlackLivesMatter activists occupied the pavement of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti on Sunday, beginning the protest action early in the morning and promising to continue to camp out in demand of justice. Putting photographs of Ezell Ford on the gate of the property, the activists wrote commemorative messages to the 25-year-old black man who was shot by Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers on August 1, 2014.

One activist, Dawn, said the occupation has been organised to reflect the way police forcefully intervene in black communities in LA. "We're occupying Eric Garcetti's house," she said ,"where he sleeps, bringing it to his family the way that his police take it to our neighbourhood."
