France: Russian travel ban list an "understandable" response to EU - Le Pen
The leader of France's Front National Marine Le Pen gave a press conference in Nanterre on Wednesday to talk about her visits to Russia and Egypt last week. She outlined the importance of Russia's role in fighting Islamic fundamentalism and pointed out that Russia's travel ban list is an "understandable" response to the list of Russian people including the Chairman of the Duma, Sergei Naryshkin, from freely travelling across Europe that was established by the European Union (EU). The list created by Russia, which appeared online Friday, lists 89 EU politicians and officials who are not permitted to enter Russia.
Le Pen also stressed her position as "a big defender of the restoration of the relations with Russia" and her intention to "deepen a strategic partnership."
Le Pen visited Egypt last week where she met with Egyptian Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and Ahmed El-Tayeb, grand imam of top Sunni Muslim body Al-Azhar to discuss her party's stance on Islam, the EU plans to implement measures to stop mass-migration in the Mediterranean and the fight against extremism.
