France: Loss of Ramadi not defeat but tactical retreat - Iraqi PM al-Abadi
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi called on the international community to pledge more support to aid Iraqi armed forces in their fight against the Islamic State during a joint press conference in Paris, Tuesday.
Al-Abadi described ISIS as a threat not only to Iraq but also to both the region of the Middle East and the rest of the world.
The Iraqi PM also spoke of developments in terms of military actions against the group in Iraq, where they have recently managed to seize control of Ramadi, the capital city of Anbar province. Al-Abadi insisted that the Iraqi Army had not been defeated, but had instead been forced to make strategic retreats. However plans for a push to regain Ramadi and other occupied areas of Anbar province were already in motion.
