Yemen: Eight reportedly dead as airstrikes target arms depot outside Sanaa
A reported eight civilians were killed, and a further 20 wounded, when Saudi-led airstrikes purportedly hit an arms depot on Mount Noqum, just outside of the Yemeni capital of Sanaa, Monday. The attack comes as coalition forces continue to target Houthi militia members throughout the country in a bid to reinstate ousted Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.
Smoke could be seen rising from the scene as a series of explosions lit up the mountainside, with reports that shrapnel and munitions from the blasts landed in a nearby residential area.
Almost 2,000 people have been killed and more than half a million displaced since airstrikes began in Yemen on March 26, according to the UN figures. The Saudi-led coalition includes eight other Arab states and is receiving logistical support from countries including the United States, the United Kingdom and France.
