Protesters marched from the 'Angel of Independence' to the 'Monument to the Victims' in Mexico City Saturday, in an event organised in opposition to wide-spread violence in the country. Organised by a series of NGO's including 'Alto al Secuestro ' (Stop the Kidnapping) and Mexico SOS, the protesters dressed in white as they waved placards calling for an end to recent unrest.

The group are calling for greater governmental measures in building institutions to prevent violence, including protecting the police and armed forces. They are also calling for a proper investigation into recent student deaths in the country, the most high-profile case occurring in Ayotzinapa in September 2014, when 43 male students were kidnapped and executed.
