Germany: Without Snowden Germany would be living a "blatant lie" - Former Bundestag Vice-President
Had it not been for "the bravery of Edward Snowden" the "blatant" lies perpetrated by the German government would never have been exposed, former Vice-President of the German Bundestag Burkhard Hirsch said in Berlin, Saturday.
Dozens of protesters and lawyers gathered in front of the German Chancellery to mark the upcoming second anniversary of Edward Snowden leaking classified National Security Agency (NSA) information in June 2013. The protesters accuse the German government of lying to the public in order to retain its power and maintain relations with the US.
