
Kazakhstan: Medvedev and Nazarbayev talk economic ties in Burabay
Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev wished Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev success in the so-called '100 steps programme' that his country is implementing to boost its economic competitiveness, as both met during a Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) heads of government meeting in the Burabay resort, Friday.
Medvedev said that he found the programme "very ambitious, very interesting, very difficult" and wished Nazarbayev success in implementing it.
Both leaders acknowledged that there has been an overall decline in trade turnover between their countries, but noted that the reasons for this are linked to global resource prices. "If we deduct prices of energy resources from the turnover, our trade turnover is growing," Medvedev noted
