Belgium: Stoltenberg sets out the communication between Russia and NATO
Speaking at the Palais d'Egmont in Brussels Tuesday, Stoltenberg stated that NATO has "suspended all practical cooperation with Russia," before adding that NATO "are keeping lines of political contact open."
Stoltenberg spoke of the importance of transparency and predictability to avoid situations and incidents from "spiralling out of control," adding that lines of military communication between NATO and Russia will remain open.
Earlier in the day, Stoltenberg attended the annual meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in the Belgian capital, where Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was also present. The Russian delegation remains part of the Committee of Ministers despite having had its credentials to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) suspended in 2014.
