
USA: Obama assures GCC that Iran nuke deal is in their ‘security interests’
President Barack Obama revealed that the U.S and Gulf partners agree that a comprehensive, verifiable solution addressing Iran's nuclear problems, is needed as it is in their "security interests", speaking to press at Camp David in Maryland, Thursday.
Obama went on to state that he and the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council, "welcome an Iran that plays a responsible role in the region, one that takes concrete, practical steps to build trust." However commented that regardless of whether a deal is reached by the June 30 deadline, they will still face threats across the region.
Obama is currently hosting leaders from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates at the Camp David presidential retreat.
