Greece: "I will not put my signature on such a deal" - Varoufakis
Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis spoke of the prospective deal with 'the institutions' (ECB, IMF and EU), stating that "I will not put my signature on such a deal that, from a macro-dynamic perspective, is not dynamically consistent," speaking from Athens, Thursday. Varoufakis continued by pledging that "I will be yet another finance minister that signs a pact of fiscal adjustment, which he knows is not viable."
Speaking at the Economist's 19th Roundtable with the Government of Greece entitled 'Europe: The Comeback? Greece: How resilient?' taking place over 14 - 15 May, Varoufakis said that "it is time that all of us say in public what we say privately: The greek debt must be redesigned."
Speaking about euphemisms for unpopular policies such as a 'haircut,' the Greek finance minister added that "we are very good in Europe at making up euphemisms, but some more investments would be more useful."
