Russia: EMERCOM helicopters monitor flood risk in Sakha Republic
Footage released by Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) on Tuesday shows its workers' efforts to monitor a potential flood situation in the Sakha Republic by helicopter.
Emergency services are braced for high waters as snow and ice in the rivers and lakes begins to make its way downstream, while high volumes of rainfall add to the problem of already swollen rivers.
In order to ensure that the correct measures are in place should flooding strike, a special task force of the Far Eastern Regional Emergency Centre of Russia has been set up. Working alongside them are two operational groups of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
