German President Joachim Gauck welcomed Israeli President Reuven Rivlin to the Bellevue Palace in Berlin, Monday, with full military honours.

Rivlin is visiting Germany for two days on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations between Germany and Israel, which took place on May 12, 1965.

On Monday, Gauck and Rivlin are due to visit the German-Israeli Youth Congress, with a state dinner at the Bellevue Palace in the evening. On Tuesday, May 12, both presidents are due to participate in a meeting of the German-Israeli Future Forum Foundation before heading to the Berlin Philharmonic Hall in the evening to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both nations.
