Russia: Putin and Czech President Zeman meet on V-Day

Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed bilateral relations between Moscow and Prague during a meeting with his Czech counterpart Milos Zeman in Moscow, Saturday, on the 70th anniversary of the Soviet victory in World War II.

Zeman reiterated his opinion that European sanctions against Russia are short-term, and said he expected them to be lifted by the end of 2015. "Policy is like the weather – it gets colder but also it gets warmer,” he quipped.

The Czech president also honoured the memory of soldiers and civilians who died during the war. Vladimir Putin expressed his gratitude to the Czech Republic for taking care of the military cemeteries and burial places of Red Army troops.
