May 9, 2015 at 16:59 GMT +00:00 · Published

At least three people were killed and two seriously injured when a Spanish Air Force transport plane crashed near a Coca-Cola factory close to Seville airport on Saturday.

The Airbus A400M took off from San Pablo Airport for a trial flight and crashed shortly afterwards, reportedly having developed a fault while in the air. A column of black smoke could be seen rising into the sky from the crash site in the afternoon.

Spain’s Interior Ministry has not confirmed the number of deaths yet but recent reports suggest that up to 10 people may have been on the aircraft when it crashed. Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy expressed his condolences to the victims’ families.
