
Russia: Lavrov and Steinmeier commemorate Battle of Stalingrad
Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov praised the heroism of the Red Army and the sacrifices of the Russian citizens, speaking a service in Volgograd commemorating the Battle of Stalingrad, Thursday.
Flanked by German Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Lavrov thanked the German for sharing “this Memorial Day with us.”
Formerly known as Stalingrad, Volgograd was the site of the bloodiest battle in World War II. The battle was seen as a pivotal moment in which the fortune of the war turned against Nazi Germany and led to their ultimate defeat.
