USA: Freddie Gray protests spread to Seattle
Protesters gathered in central Seattle on Saturday to demonstrate against police brutality and show their support for Freddie Gray.
Accompanied by police officers on bikes, they held banners with messages like 'smash racism', 'black spring' and 'police brutality has no borders.' The protesters caused traffic jams across several blocks, before they were scattered by the police.
Anti-police brutality protests swept Baltimore on Monday, just hours after the funeral of 25-year-old Freddie Gray, who died in police custody on April 19, 2015. Gray's family say he suffered a severe spinal injury, that his voice box was crushed and his neck was snapped before he went into a coma and died. Police reports indicate that these injuries were sustained after his arrest.
