Belgium: "We are directly guilty" - Farage on Mediterranean migrant crisis
UKIP leader Nigel Farage said that Europe is "directly guilty for the drownings going on" in reference to the Mediterranean migrant crisis in Brussels, Wednesday. His comments follow the European Council's emergency summit on April 23.
Farage also said that the European Parliament "are hypocrites" when they "talk about poverty in Africa" and "assuage our consciences by giving away a bit of foreign aid." He went on to call on the members of the European Parliament to ask the United Nations to "get involved and try and help."
The summit was called after at least 800 people died in a boat disaster off the coast of Libya on April 19. The incident has been called the deadliest ever migrant tragedy in the Mediterranean.
