USA: Hollywood's march for the victims of Armenian mass killings
Thousands marched through the streets of LA, from Hollywood to the Turkish Consulate, in commemoration of the mass killings of Armenians in the former Ottoman Empire, Friday.
Many of the protesters expressed dissent towards US President Barack Obama, who had pledged to officially recognise the mass killings as an "act of genocide," before he was in power. Protesters carried flags and placards as they marched through the streets chanting: "shame on Turkey."
Up to 1.5 Million Armenians were killed under Ottoman rule, but Turkey still objects to the term 'genocide' for the mass killing.
