
USA: Protesters rally outside Baltimore PD HQ over death of Freddie Gray
Hundreds of people gathered outside the Baltimore Police Department headquarters, Thursday, to protest over the death of Freddie Gray. Twenty-seven-year-old Gray died on Sunday from severe injuries he sustained whilst in police custody. According to Gray's family he suffered a severe spinal injury, his voice box was crushed and his neck was snapped before he slipped into a coma and died.
Hundreds of protesters gathered at Baltimore City Hall before proceeding through the streets to the police headquarters. Tensions rose during the march, with minor scuffles breaking out between police and protesters and a number of missiles being thrown.
According to the Baltimore Police Department, two arrests were made for disorderly conduct and destruction of property. No other arrests were made and the protest remained peaceful for the most part.
