      USA: #BlackLivesMatter protesters demand justice for Freddie Gray

      Hundreds of protesters squared off against police in Baltimore on Wednesday, demanding justice for the 25 year-old Freddie Gray who died in police custody on April 19. Erecting a barricade, police stood guard as tensions rose, calling for calm as protesters held banners supportive of the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

      The protesters are calling for the punishment of the officers involved in the incident, which saw Gray suffer from a severely damaged spine as he was being transported in a police vehicle before dying from his injuries.

      The Baltimore Police Department have identified six officers involved in Gray’s arrest: Lt. Brian Rice, , Officer Caesar Goodson, Sergeant Alicia White, Officer William Porter, Officer Garrett Miller, and Officer Edward Nero. An official investigation has been launched.
