Germany: Frontex chief heckled by protesters in Berlin
Around 100 protesters confronted Klaus Rosler, the operation chief of the European Union's border agency Frontex, as he attended an event at the Schwarzkopf foundation in Berlin on Wednesday.
Protesters attempted to prevent Rosler from entering the building, throwing bottles as police escorted him inside. Demonstrators tried to storm the entrance, however police retaliated with pepper spray. It was later announced that Rosler left the event using the back door.
Frontex, the European Agency for the Management of the External Borders of the Member States of the European Union, came under fire again after over 900 migrants died trying to cross to Europe on an overcrowded boat on April 19.
Frontex began operating in 2005, its main purpose was to improve the management of the external borders of the EU member states and promote operational co-ordination.
