An Indian farmer committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree during a mass rally in Delhi featuring the chief minister of the capital, Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday, in protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's newly introduced land acquisition bill.
The man’s body was removed from the tree by locals who were too late to stop him from hanging himself. The farmer left behind three children, as well as a suicide note, asking where he was to go after his crops were destroyed. The man’s body was later removed and taken to hospital where Kejriwa reportedly visited the body.
A reported 300,000 Indian farmers have committed suicide due to debts and bad harvests since 1995
