Greece: At least 3 dead as migrant ship sinks off coast of Rhodes
At least three people died when yet another migrant ship sank in the Mediterranean, this time off the coast of Rhodes, Monday. Reports indicate that the ship's distress call signaled that at least 300 people were on board the vessel, with two other ships also purportedly in trouble in the area. A rescue operation is currently underway with officials searching the waters of Rhodes for any survivors.
This latest incident follows Sunday's tragic sinking when between 700 and 950 migrants died after their boat capsized off the north coast of Libya.
Over 1600 people have now died trying to cross the Mediterranean in 2015 alone, a 50 percent increase compared to the same period for 2014 when over 3000 died in total.
