
Russia: Moscow wants a peaceful, prosperous Ukrainian partner - Putin
Russia is offering a discount on gas prices to Ukraine because it wants to help the Ukrainian people and ensure the country's economy gets back on its feet, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in Moscow on Thursday.
Speaking at an annual live question-and-answer session at the Gostiny Dvor (Merchant Yard), Putin said that helping Ukraine to prosper was in Russia's interests. Putin stated that all Russia wants in return is to be “treated as equal partners” by the Kiev authorities.
The Russian president will answer some of the nearly 3 million questions from the public collected since April 9. The QA session, Vladimir Putin's 13th in a row, will be broadcast by Russia’s major TV channels and radio stations. The 2014 "Direct Line with Vladimir Putin" lasted 3 hours and 55 minutes in which Putin answered 81 questions out of 2.4 million put forward.
