Germany: Meet the robot pouring pints for beer-filled punters!
The Kuka LBR iiwa robot served beer to visitors of the Kuka stand at Hanover Messe 2015, Monday. German producer Kuka has designed the robot to wash the glass before taking a bottle of beer, opening it and pouring the liquid into the glass. It then hands the glass over to bartenders or customers.
Weighing between 23.9 and 29.9 kg (52.6 - 65.9 lbs), the LBR iiwa - which is an abbreviation of 'lightweight intelligent industrial work assistant' - features sensory capabilities that ensure safety. It can be mounted on the floor, ceiling or wall and has a maximum reach of 800 mm (0.8 metres).
The Hanover Fair (Hannover Messe) for industrial technology started on Monday and runs until Friday, April 17. It features some 6,500 exhibitors and attracts 250,000 visitors annually.
