Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi pushed the idea of India as a major manufacturing hub for the world during a visit to Hannover, Monday, stating that "I especially invite German manufacturing to come to India and I also request to the whole world that you come and develop a partnership."

Speaking at the 2015 Hannover Fair alongside German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Modi said that "India is the fastest developing economy in the world", adding that "I especially invite German manufacturing to come to India."

Germany is already India's largest European trading partner with €15.9 billion ($16.8 billion) of trade between both countries in 2014. Germany is the Indian PM's second leg of a three-nation tour that began in France and will see him head to Canada next.
