
Panama: President Varela brings seventh Summit of the Americas to an end
The seventh Summit of the Americas came to an end in Panama City, Saturday, with the President of Panama Juan Carlos Varela giving the final words of the summit.
In the last address, Varela thanked Peru's President Ollanta Humala for offering up his country as the venue for the eighth Summit of the Americas. The Panamanian president also praised the steps taken by both the US and Cuban presidents to improve relations during the summit.
Varela concluded by saying that "for Panama, for the people of Panama and for our government it has been a great honour to be the host country of the summit, the historic 7th Summit of the Americas".
