Vietnam: 'Almost all details agreed' on Vietnam-EEU free trade zone - Medvedev

Almost all of the main elements in creating a free trade zone between Vietnam and the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) have been agreed, said Russian Prime Minister Dimitri Medvedev in Hanoi on Monday. His remarks come during a three-day visit to Vietnam, which began on Sunday. According to Medvedev, Hanoi and Moscow hope to sign the free trade zone agreement in the "near future."

Medvedev and his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung also discussed industrial and energy cooperation during their Monday meeting. Among the documents expected to be signed include a memorandum on mutual understand between Vietnam Oil and Gas Corporation and Russia's Gazprom. An agreement concerning the modernisation of Vietnamese power plants has already been signed between Russia's Inter Rao Export electricity company and Vietnamese North Power Service JSC.
