UK: Bloodied-panty protesters decry tampon tax - ‘The taxman can suck my clit!"
Over 300 protesters wearing 'blood-stained' panties gathered outside London's Downing Street, Thursday, to decry the 5% value added tax (vat) on women's sanitary products and tampons.
Gathering outside the British Prime Minister's residence, the protesters carried and shouted anti-sexist slogans and waved placards bearing phrases including "What a bloody disgrace" and "The taxman can suck my clit".
Tampons are currently classed as a non-essential luxury item in the UK, unlike other health products considered as essential such as condoms.
