Riot-police sprayed protesters with tear gas in Montreal, Thursday, after a reported 75,000 people took to the streets to oppose Quebec’s austerity measures.
The protest was organised by the Association for Student Union Solidarity (ASSE) to rally against government plans to reduce spending on education, health care and social services. Students, teachers, university staff and trade unions were mostly in attendance.
