Russia’s Customs Service at Domodedovo Airport intercepted a shipment of rare animals on Wednesday.

A Russian citizen coming from Doha in Qatar to Moscow tried to import around 100 animals as cargo. Among the bewildering number of creatures that were transported were a leopard cub, six lemurs, two monkeys, two crocodiles and 57 snakes.

According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment, most of the animals are protected under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. Ministry officials also said that they will press for criminal proceedings to be instigated against the individual if the information about the smuggling of wild animals is confirmed.
