Switzerland: Iran nuclear talks "difficult, long and complicated," says French FM
Diplomats took a break as the P5+1 negotiations on Iran's nuclear programme continued in Lausanne, Tuesday night.
French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said the negotiations were "difficult, long and complicated," as top diplomats from Russia, US, France, Britain, China, Germany and Iran try to reach a deal before the midnight deadline. However, the agreement deadline may be extended until the next morning, past the official cut-off point of March 31.
The current round of talks between Russia, US, France, Britain, China, Germany and Iran began March 27, amid hopes of a breakthrough after around 18 months of negotiations. The deadline for the final deal is set as June 30.
