Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived at the Beau-Rivage Palace hotel in Lausanne to continue the negotiations regarding Tehran's nuclear programme, Monday morning, amid unconfirmed reports that he will leave the negotiations this evening - one day before the March 31 deadline for a preliminary agreement. There was a large security presence in and around the hotel as diplomats arrived.

The talks, led by US Secretary of State John Kerry and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, aim at reaching an agreement by the preliminary deadline of Tuesday March 31, after nearly two years of negotiations.

Top diplomats from the UK, China, Germany, France and Russia have joined the talks with the US and Iran in Lausanne that began on Thursday. Most of the negotiators have expressed positive feelings regarding the possibility of reaching an agreement before the deadline. The deadline for a final agreement is June 30.
