France: Families of Germanwings victims visit memorial site close to crash
Families and friends of the victims of Germanwings flight 4U9525 gathered in the French town of Le Vernet, near the crash site, on Friday to hold a memorial service for those killed in the Airbus A320 on Tuesday 24 March.
A memorial stone for the victims of the disaster was placed in the town on Thursday, where families of the victims paid their respects and placed flowers and candles at the foot of the memorial.
The Airbus A320 crashed into the French Alps while flying from Barcelona to Dusseldorf with 144 passengers and six crew members on board.
After evaluating the plane's black box flight recorder, investigators concluded that co-pilot Andreas Lubitz locked the plane's captain out of the cockpit before starting the fatal eight-minute descent.
