Yemen: Guards patrol Sana'a military base after Saudi airstrikes
Armed guards were patrolling the streets around a military base near Sana’a, Thursday, after Saudi Arabia launched airstrikes, Wednesday.
Saudi Arabian Ambassador to the United State Adel al-Jubeir told reporters on Wednesday that Saudi Arabia, with the help of at least nine other countries, has launched a military operation in order to "protect the legitimate government of Yemen."
Wednesday's airstrikes came hours after unconfirmed reports transpired that Yemen's President Abed Raboo Mansour Hadi had fled the country after Houthi fighters captured parts of the major port city of Aden, as well as a Yemeni airbase that was vital to U.S. drone operations in the region.
