Colombia: YEEHAW! Check out the 2015 COWGIRL World Championships
With lassos, plaid shirts and cowboy boots at hand, the Americas' most promising female rancheros gathered for the 2015 Cowgirl World Championships in the central Colombian city of Villavicencio, Sunday.
Drawing riders from Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Costa Rica and Brazil among others, the three day competition saw contestants battle it out to determine this year's star cowgirl. Contestants, including the youngest aged just 12, were judged in five separate categories including bare-back riding, bull lassoing, and barrel jumping.
Now in its ninth incarnation, the event at Villavicencio's Parque las Malocas draws thousands of spectators each year.
