Russia: "Reunification with Crimea about common roots, not territory" - Putin
Russia's reunification with Crimea was triggered by the common historic and spiritual roots, rather than Russia's appetite for more territory, Russia's President Vladimir Putin said in Moscow on Wednesday.
Speaking in front of thousands of Muscovites at a ceremony marking the anniversary of Crimea's reunification with Russia, Putin added that the Ukrainians are the same people, and expressed his belief that the nation will eventually suss out those "who brought the country into its current state."
Putin further emphasised that Russia will do everything to help Ukraine normalise the situation in the country.
