China: Apple Watch knock-offs selling for less than a tenth of retail price!
Fake Apple Watches were discretely sold throughout Shenzhen's digital product markets, Saturday. The knock-offs cost about 280 yuan ($45/€43), that's less than a tenth of the asking price of Apple who intend to retail the bottom of the range version, the 38mm edition, for $349 (€332) and the 42mm for $399 (€380). The steel cased version starts at $549 (€523), let alone the 18-karat gold edition, which begins retailing at $10,000 (€9,526).
Most of the shop owners are unwilling to be filmed and refuse to talk about these Apple Watches, except for the price.
Apple are only opening pre-orders on April 10, and will only begin to ship the products from April 24.
