
Latvia: 'EU prepared to impose further sanctions on Russia' - Latvian FM
The EU is prepared to employ further sanctions against Russia if the Minsk agreements are violated, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics said in Riga on Friday. Rinkevics spoke as he introduced EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini before her address on the EU’s implementation of the Minsk agreements.
In her speech, Mogherini described the ways in which the EU would move to bolster the OSCE monitoring mission in Ukraine. The foreign policy chief mentioned increasing the numbers of monitors, and employing more drones in the region.
Friday's meeting is the first of two days of talks between EU foreign ministers on strategies to overcome the crisis in Ukraine's east.
