      In a curious blend of companionship and extreme sports, an elderly Chilean couple showcased their ingenious wheelchair-skateboard fusion in their hometown of Iquique, Thursday.

      Raquel Cortes rides on a skateboard that is attached to the electric wheelchair of her husband, Mario Santander. The two came up with the idea after passing by their local skate park on an afternoon walk.

      The couple apparently found the skateboard at their grandson’s house, quickly visualising a way for Raquel to accompany her husband around town without expending any energy. There’s not much chance of Cortes pulling off kick-flips in the near future, but for popping down to the shops, the pair have found the perfect answer.
