Russia: Putin warns Ukraine has only two days left of gas payments
Speaking at a government meeting in Moscow on Wednesday Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the remaining volume of gas prepaid by Ukraine is only enough for two days of use.
Calling on Prime Minister Dimitri Medvedev to cooperate with Russian gas producer Gazprom, Putin said that Russia was ready to honour all contracts, but only in the context of prepayment.
Putin also called for a budget readjustment due to further changes in the price of oil and the continued drop in value of the rouble, as well as the current difficulties of attracting financial resources from international markets.
The Russian government will consider the adjustments to the budget on March 5, which will need the State Duma's approval.
